Turok has been one of the most popular games in a first-person shooter category for more than 10 years. But the problem is that the game doesn’t update since 2008. And although, the developers have been recently announced about the new release — Turok: Escape from Lost Valley, fans of the game were a little bit upset because it wasn’t what they expected to see.

Different Design = Different Game?

Turok was made in the best traditions of action-adventure games with a pretty cute animated design. As a player, you will assume the role of Joseph Turok, Native American space marine. He was sent to an unknown planet with other characters to arrest General Roland Kane, a war criminal and a former commanding officer. Unfortunately, the landing was unsuccessful, and now our hero should explore this planet to survive. He reveals that there are a lot of dinosaurs and other dangerous creatures. Your task is to help Turok to stay alive and apprehend Roland Kane.

In a new Turok: Escape from Lost Valley release, the developers decided to leave the protagonist and other familiar creatures in the game. But there are some inexplicable changes. First of all, it boasts a chibi art style. Secondly, the game is not a first-person shooter anymore. Turok: Escape from Lost Valley was created as a third-person action-adventure game. Thirdly, you will be put in the shoes of the main character an be able to use a knife and a bow to get out of the Lost Valley and come back home.

Pillow Pig Games, the developer of Turok, won Universal GameDev Challenge hosted by Universal, who is the owner of Turok IP. Universal tasked independent studious to design a new game. There were nearly 550 submissions, and Pillow Pig Games became the absolute winner.
